"My environmental artworks are ecologically motivated interventions or site-responsive art. The physical process of decomposition becomes evident as the pieces change over time, emphasizing the fragility of nature. For this residency, I am looking to create one piece of land art and one sculpture that uses a steel armature that I will provide. I am also looking to use the time to edit my chapbook and create new, responsive writings to the surrounding environment.
As my practice evolves using writing and installation, I’m interested in gaining feedback from fellow artists on how to better use multidisciplinary approaches and integrate new mediums. This residency would give me ideal, dedicated physical and mental space needed to perpetuate my art practice." - Stephanie Garon
