Allie Tova Hirsch
Spring Resident 2021
Allie Tova Hirsch is a non-binary Jewish writer originally from Virginia, as well as a graduate of the Oberlin College Creative Writing Program and the Helen Zell Writers Program at the University of Michigan. They are the recipient of residencies from the Corporation of Yaddo, Monson Arts, Grin City Collective, as well as fellowships from the New York State Writers Institute and the Juniper Institute. They were a year-long Artist in Residence at InsideOut in Detroit. Allie’s novel-in-progress was the recipient of a Hopwood Prize in Fiction, and they were the recipient of a Zell Fellowship from the University of Michigan. They currently teach at the Penny W. Stamps School of Art and Design at the University of Michigan, and are represented by Rebecca Gradlinger of Fletcher & Co. in New York.
My intentions for a residency with Tiny Birch are pretty straightforward: I want to keep writing my book. The main plot of my novel is about a critic learning that he's complicit in aiding and covering up for a known abuser (and successful conceptual artist) within the art world. - Allie Tova Hirsch
